Subject: Lancia thema 2.0 16v back fire fails IP: Logged
Message: Dear Sir
I have a lancia thema 2.0 16V in EGYPT and i have the following problem:
1-I had a cam shaft belt cut and i changed the valves and resolved all the problems due to this belt cut.
2-The motor starts normally in idle but unfortunately when i increase the motor speed (Back fire) it does not respond and the motor fails.
3-I changed the Fuel pump with a new one and still the same problem.
4-The pressure at the inlet of the injection ruler is almost 2.5-3 Bar.
Please can u help me tellling me what could be the fault from ???

Message: If you are confident that the belts have been correctly refitted and that the valve timing is correct, then try checking connection of the vacuum sensor pipe from the inlet manifold.
There should be a thin, green plastic pipe that runs from the ECU (beside the Left headlamp)to a brass fitting at the back of the inlet manifold.
If you look at the back of the manifold you can see that there are two small brass tubes. One should have a red pipe attached to it, and this is for the power steering system. The other one should have a green pipe. The green one gives manifold vacuum information to the ECU for the ignition timing calculation.

Message: I can tell you that fuel pressure should be between 2.5 and 2.9 bar on S3 Themas. Have you checked the phase sensor (lives at the end of inlet cam on S3's).
